Aeras Carbon Peel
The carbon laser peel is a popular laser procedure that helps exfoliate, reduce oil production, and reduce acne. It is also an excellent way to refresh the skin, leaving it softer and smoother!
How does a Carbon Peel work?
This laser procedure utilises the Aeras Hypertec Q-switched and liquid carbon to help combat acne.
A layer of liquid carbon is first applied o the skin to allow it to penetrate into the pores, absorbing the oil and contaminants from deep within. The q-switched laser is then passed over the layer of carbon, and the laser energy removes the carbon, taking dead skin cells, oil, and dirt with it.
The carbon layer has a high affinity for the Q-switched Laser energy and get quickly burnt off by the laser when passed over. The carbon layer is removed together with any absorbed contaminants. Because the carbon layer has a high affinity of the laser energy, it further enhances the laser effects of killing p.acne bacteria and shrinks oil glands. This reduces clogged pores and inflammation, resulting in clearer skin.
Is it painful?
The carbon laser peel can be a very loud procedure when the carbon gets burnt off. However, the procedure is comfortable and very tolerable.
Is there downtime?
There is no downtime for the carbon laser. A slight pinkish flush can be observed for 15-30mins.
You are advised to avoid strong sun exposure for at least 7 days after the procedure.
How effective is the treatment?
Also known as the Hollywood Peel, the Carbon Laser Peel has garnered rave reviews over the years and is particularly effective for non-cystic acne. Due to the carbon layer enhancing the effects of the Q-switched Laser, results can be faster and more effective. However, like all lasers, there can be an initial purging period for 3-5 days.
